AT-AD Information

AT-AD is a spray or brush on liquid that minimizes the adherence of steel skulls on many types o steel plant equipment.  One of the most common uses is to minimize the formation of skulls on the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) oxygen blowing lance.   In this case the material is applied to the lance prior to its insertion into the furnace.  The AT-AD layer prevents the slag from adhering to the lance, thus preventing a huge build up of skull.   This provides both a financial and safety benefit. The name AT-AD stands for Anti-Adherence.
