WADECO Blocked Chute Detector

The WADECO blocked chute detector is not so much a device as it is an application that makes use of two standard WADECO products, the Solids Flow Detector and the receiver half of a WADECO Single Point Detector.

As seen in the above illustration, the solids flow detector is placed on one side of the material to be monitored and the receiver portion of a single point level switch is placed on the opposite side, but in line.

During normal operation the material is flowing past the solids flow sensor.  The sensor is detecting this flow and providing the appropriate output.  Since the material is flowing, a portion of the microwaves from the solids flow sensor are passing through the material and are being detected by the single point receiver.

If the flow were to stop. the solids flow sensor would detect the lack of movement and activate the proper alarm.  The single point receiver would still be detecting the microwaves from the solids flow sensor and would remain unaffected.

If the chute were to become blocked, once the level of material reached the level of the solids flow sensor, the sensor would no longer detect movement and would therefore activate the required alarm. The single point receiver would no longer detect the microwaves from the solids flow sensor and would then activate the blocked chute alarm.
